Who We Are
LoveOf is all about helping people to create the life they want to be living! We believe the best way to do this is to have a deeper, more honest, connection to yourself and others, so that you can live a more passionate, powerful, and wildly rewarding life.
The LoveOf model is based on the Four Tenets of Love and Belonging:
Love of Self
Love of Beloveds
Love of Community
Love of the World
These guiding principles help us to bring deeper connections into everyday practices by diving into what we mean by the word “love” in order to feel more empowered and connected in our own lives and with one another.
We specialize in taking care of those
who take care of others.
If you find yourself always supporting those around you, whether in your profession or your family, with little or no time for yourself, you are not alone. For some, the ability to “do it all” works just fine - to a point.
Yet, in times of transition, such as the birth of a new baby, loss of a loved one, coming out to your family, or change in relationship or career (or, perhaps, a global pandemic!) We quickly discover that even us caretakers need support. By learning to cultivate a deeper love of self, we also learn how to better establish boundaries, discover what ignites our passion, and step into our power!
At LoveOf, our mission is to create a space for community-care over self-care and to transform self-help into self-love. By using a holistic approach to community building, combined with personal growth techniques, the LoveOf model seeks to awaken your body, mind, and spirit in order to bring more grounding, wholeness, and LOVE into your life.
Our Name
The name LoveOf is inspired by the Buddhist meditation technique called metta (a.k.a. “loving-kindness”) meditation. The practice involves focusing our attention on our pure-love for different areas of our lives.
For example:
I wish for love of myself
Love of someone close to me
Love of an acquaintance
Love of an enemy
Love of the world
The LoveOf model harnesses this idea in that once love is cultivated close in, we are more easily able to envision sending much needed love and comfort to anyone. This foundation allows us to direct our energy in the area of greatest need for ourselves, our relationships, our community and, ultimately, for the entire world.
Out of this philosophy was born the Four Tenets of Love and Belonging:
The Four Tenets:
Love of Self: “I love myself - I am both the subject and the object of loving towards my own being”
Love of Beloveds: “My heartfelt desire is to love and be loved”
Love of Community: “I offer love to all people and work toward a better future”
Love of the World: “I love creation and my part in it.”
The Four Tenets guide our message and help us navigate the act of loving in the world, which sometimes can feel challenging (especially close-in). By committing ourselves to these goals, we are able to better navigate our emotions when we find ourselves feeling dismissive, numb, or even hostile towards ourselves or others.
When we recognize the deepest desire found in all of us: to love and be loved, we are able to approach change, transitions, and adversity from a place of compassion, connection, and co-creation with the universe.
This is not to say that “loving” is always easy - on the contrary, it can be one of the most difficult practices to stick with! And, indeed, there are plenty of evils in the world that seem as though they do not deserve our love (we’ll get there!) We are not offering a solution to all of the world’s problems, but rather we recognize that even loving ourselves, for many of us, can be a challenge. LoveOf seeks to explore these deeper questions in a community of support that is without judgement or comparison.
